Dragon Whips Its Tail – Famous Bruce Lee Quote from Enter the Dragon

Josiah Grigsby Does “Dragon Whips Its Tail”

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JOSIAH! Here’s a sweet pic of Josiah Grigsby

Performing “Dragon Whips its Tail” to Another black belt in the dojo.

“Dragon Whips its Tail” is a Famous Quote by a Mr. Bruce lee.

I Remembered as a Kid Watching Bruce Lee Movies Growing up, in this case the name of the movie is “The Way of The Dragon”…

I don’t know if you watched it, but I remember one of my favorite scenes is when Bruce is in an alley and is taking on a gang of dudes…

Out of no where Bruce performs this lighting fast, spinning kick and knocks a guy on his booty.

Then afterwards he slightly “taunts” slash “teaches” the man after each strike he uses…

He calls out the technique after each strike…In This case… “Dragon Whips its Tail.”

It was the first spinning kick I every saw of its kind growing up and it still stuck with me to this day.

What’s interesting is we teach this move on your first rank… It only takes a couple seconds for me to teach you the exact steps to follow so you can easily perform it in one lesson…

However the timing and distance required to use on a high level opponent takes a good couple months of practice.

Josiah landed it perfect, and I don’t know if you can tell but he landed it on the “Avocados”… 🥑

Josiah literally kicked a dude up in the air and knocked him flat on his back with a whipping dragon Kick to the weavos…

Beautiful executed and I thought it would make for an awesome birthday present.

Happy birthday my friend, Hope you have an amazing day.

I am an adrenaline Junky.

Sulag Before Sparring & After… 🙂

I am an adrenaline junky.

I love Rock climbing.

I Love White Water Kayaking.

I love 4×4 in my CJ-8 Jeep.

I love Riding my motorcycle..

But nothing comes close to Sparring.

(Technically its not “sparring” it’s more like simulating the deaths of your best friends, but that doesn’t sound politically correct)

Here is a BEFORE and AFTER pic of Sulag.

This picture was was taken on his Black belt Sparring Portion of his exam.

But honestly I could take this same picture every week at the dojo.

You will leave sparring class usually in the same position as Sulag.

Laying on your back in a weirdly euphoric state replaying in your mind “what the BLEEP just happened to me.”

Sulag Earns Shodan! Black Belt Achieved!

Sulagshan Mahendrarajah Earns SHODAN! 1st Degree Black Belt!

Sulag came to us already addicted to martial arts as many do.

He just moved up to Oregon to work as a neurologist at Asante.

Before moving up here for work he ‘almost’ earned a Black belt in another system but ran out of time before the move.

One of his friends Dr. Som Ghosh who also works at Asante also trained with us and his recommendation got Sulag to try us out.

Sulag instantly fell in love with our realistic style of training after he took our trial.

Fast forward 5 1/2 years and training 3-5 times per week, EVERY week, not missing a single sparring class or lesson (until his son was born) he arrived at his destination.

SHODAN.

Which means translate to “Beginner Degree” or 1st Degree Black Belt in our system of Kenpo Jiu Jitsu.Very proud of you my friend, Sulag.

This is well deserved and it was an honor to Train, Bleed and Sweat with you in the Dojo.

We’ve all heard:

Martial Arts gives us Confidence.

Martial Arts gives us Strength.

Martial Arts gives us Discipline.

But no one talks about the price you have to pay for it… Now its not a monetary price… Its more valuable than that…”Its Time”

Its Time Invested In your-self… Or its Time invested in your-spose… Or its Time invested in your-child… its Time Invested..

The More Time you invest the better the results.

“Miss Maizy” pays that price…

She shows up early…

and stays late…

I’ve been training for about 30+ years myself…

the head instructor over 60 years…

and there’s one common factor among the ones who turn out great..

The time invested…They always show up early and stay late.
