How It Started VS How Its Going

When it started: I was 4 years old.

34 years later I’m still training.

I earned my black belt at the age of 20.

(Pretty damn sure I hold the record in our dojo for the slowest speed at which you can earn a black belt… which was 16 years)

Which I think is badass, because I didn’t quit.since I earned 1st Black, I haven’t missed more then a couple days of training for 18 years straight.

Every week for 18 years.

There’s 52 weeks in a year times 18 years equals 936 weeks straight…

or around 6500+ days..

doing an average of 8 hours a day..

Which equals 50,000 ACTIVE hours on the mat as a Black Belt…

Crazy

I am absolutely obsessed with the dojo.

Here is a Bad A_ _ technique That I teach the 1st Day I meet you…

It allows you to take a standing opponent and put him on his a_ _

… within 3 seconds or less…

whats interesting about this technique and the majority of all our techniques in Kenpo Jiu Jitsu is it matches a personality trait I have.

let me explain…

I have chose every single vehicle I bought on its ability to go on road and off road…

I grew up in the woods, and having the ability to go places where others can’t and not only survive but thrive is an amazing feeling.

For instance, I think a Tesla is sexy, but I’d never buy one yet because it wouldn’t make it through our farm land …

Which is why I own a Jeep (it can go anywhere) Plus its a hell of a lot of fun to drive.

I chose to continue to train in Kenpo Jiu Jitsu BECAUSE the fight can go many places and knowing how to fight in all places is damn important…

The Fight can stay on the feet…

The Fight can air borne…

The Fight can go to the ground.

I believe you should learn all parts of fighting… The Strikes, The Throws, The Painful Locks, The Submissions and how to use a weapon.
